Water Quality Check

Poor water quality is one of the leading causes of boiler breakdowns and reduced heating efficiency. Eco Heat uses the Adey ProCheck, the UK's first digital central heating water test, to analyse your system's water on-site and deliver lab-quality results in under 60 seconds. We then provide clear, honest recommendations based on what the test finds.

Why Choose Eco Heat

ENGINEERED
FOR EXCELLENCE.

01

Adey ProCheck Water Test

We use the Adey ProCheck device to test your central heating water on-site. It analyses four key parameters, turbidity, pH, corrosion and inhibitor levels, and delivers instant results via a smartphone app. No lab submission, no waiting.

02

Clear, Actionable Results

The ProCheck tells us exactly what is happening inside your heating system. If your inhibitor levels are low, your pH is off, or corrosion is already forming, we can treat the system before it causes damage to your boiler or components.

03

Protect Your Guarantee

Worcester Bosch requires correct inhibitor levels and a compatible magnetic filter as conditions of their extended guarantee. A ProCheck gives us documented evidence that your system meets those requirements, protecting your cover.

What Does the Adey ProCheck Test?

The ProCheck tests four parameters that together determine the health of your central heating water. Turbidity measures how much debris, sludge, rust particles and scale, is suspended in the water. pH indicates whether the water is too acidic or too alkaline; both extremes accelerate corrosion of metal components. Corrosion testing identifies whether active corrosion is already occurring inside the system. Inhibitor level testing checks whether the protective chemical treatment in your water is still at an effective concentration, inhibitor depletes over time and needs topping up. Each parameter is graded, and the app produces a clear pass or action-required result. We walk you through the findings and explain exactly what, if anything, needs to be done.

Why Water Quality Matters for Your Boiler

The water circulating in your central heating system is in constant contact with mild steel radiators, copper pipework and the aluminium heat exchanger inside your boiler. Without adequate inhibitor protection, this causes corrosion, producing magnetite, a fine black iron oxide sludge that settles in radiators and around the boiler heat exchanger. Research by Adey shows that even a thin layer of magnetite on the heat exchanger surface reduces boiler efficiency by 7–10%, increasing your gas bills year after year. In more severe cases, sludge blockages cause complete heat exchanger failure, one of the most expensive single boiler repairs. Kent's hard water areas also contribute limescale build-up, which has similar efficiency-reducing effects.

What Happens After the Test?

If the ProCheck results show that your system water is in good condition, we let you know and no further action is required. If inhibitor levels are low, we top up the system with the correct inhibitor dose on the same visit. If corrosion or high turbidity is detected, we will advise whether a magnetic filter installation, a chemical flush or a full powerflush is the appropriate next step, based on what we actually find, not a default recommendation. We also install magnetic filters to prevent future sludge build-up; these are specified by Worcester Bosch as a condition of their extended warranty and are fitted as standard on all our new boiler installations.
